Prudential Launches "Edutainment" Cartoon For Asian Kids

Prudential Corporation Asia is expanding its financial literacy program to include a money-smart kids' programme across even Asian markets. The programme leverages on the network and production capabilities of the Cartoon Network, the TV channel for kids, and renowned children's education specialist Dr Alice Wilder, the company said in a statement. The financial programme will target seven to 12-year-olds and will be integrated into a brand new animated series on the channel set to launch in early September 2011. Along with the TV show, an interactive website will also be introduced featuring resources on money management and related concepts. The so-called "edutainment" approach centres on four core money concepts: earn, save, spend, and donate. "Sound money management skills are essential in life and it is important that our children learn the basics to financial planning in a fun and engaging way," said Barry Stowe, the chief executive of Prudential Corporation Asia. The animated series will debut in English across Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
